Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze (1967)

Written on March 21, 2008 – 12:45 am | by admin |

Purple Haze, written by Jimi himself was recorded on 11th January 1967 and released on both sides of the Atlantic. It also appeared on the US release of Jimi Hendrix Experience’s 1967 album ‘Are You Experienced’.

“Purple Haze” is considered his signature song – one of Jimi Hendrix’s greatest songs. It was his first international hit.

Purple Haze is Hendrix’ second single.

In March 2005, Q magazine ranked “Purple Haze” at number one in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. The Rolling Stone magazine placed the song at No. 17 in their “500 Greatest Songs of All Time”.

Regarding the video below, I am not sure this is from which show, but it was apparently taken in 1967. Any info is much appreaciated.
