From their very first tour of 1978-1979, here’s Eddie Van Halen doing Eruption, that legendary guitar solo. It’s probably their oldest video footage ever.
This is the track that made me fall in love with Def Leppard in 1988, and purchased my first Def Leppard record – the album “Hysteria” on tape.
The following video was part of the Hysteria world tour which lasted 15 months. The concert was held at McNichols Arena, Denver, Colorado, either on 12th or 13th February 1988.
Def Leppard’s fourth album, Hysteria was released 3rd August 1987, remained in the charts for 3 years, and reached the top of the US Album Charts in July 1988.
The title track reached no. 10 on the singles chart.
Hysteria is only the 3rd rock album ever to have charted at least 7 singles on the US Hot 100.
The album has sold 18 million copies worldwide.
The accompanying Hysteria world tour was wildly successful and ran for 15 months.
